Random travel muse: Ode to Stillness I cannot get Iceland out of my system yet; I am more into "Iceland" right now than how it had been when I was there 3 weeks back. It feels like I am re-discovering this beautiful land. May be, it is the endless solitude that I feel connected with, the loneliness, remoteness and seclusion; may be the mystic poet in it that blew my mind away. I was reading a quote from W.H. Auden: "Few people take an interest in Iceland, but in those few the interest is passionate". Am I one of those?

I belong where there are mountains and snow and glaciers and, clear, crisp blue skies right after wind-swept rains. The light of the northern sky, dark over the sea, rays of lights beaming over the glaciers; it felt sublime near the Jokulsarlon glacier that day. Then there was this deep moss covering the lava rocks; the green and dark and white reach towards each other. We tread lightly, drive and, watch. The endless and acute bouts of joy, also shuddered by sorrow and melancholy.

As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can" - John Muir..
